Tasting Note
Jasper Hill's single vineyard Shiraz are never light-on-their-feet wines. They always express the heavy soils of this unique region. This vintage is in a particularly broody place. Deense but round in shape, aromas of plump plum and cassis, chocolatey oak, pencil lead, terra cotta and licorice are all there. Tannins are massive and a bit on the oaky and drying side. There's a distinctive texture and the fruit is there hiding behind all that power. This may just need a few more years to find its way.
